Drums story

I came from nowhere. But drums have carried me everywhere.

From Kawangware to New York — how a boy who could barely afford school fees became a performer, a nurse, and a keeper of Kenyan rhythm in America.

Catherine story

Thirty years raising children in America. She never stopped being Kenyan.

Catherine left Nyeri. She built a life, a family, and a way of holding two worlds at once without dropping either.

Dr. Gitau Wairimu

Two Master's degrees. A village in Karura. And the decision to start over.

Dr. Gitau Wairimu built a $5M assisted living facility in Georgia. Most people with his credentials never looked back. He never stopped.

Richard Busaka

If I could whisper to my younger self — across the years and the distance — this is what I would say.

Richard Busaka. Nakuru. Letters written across a life that America tested in ways he did not expect and could not have prepared for.

We Met in the Silence

We met in the silence between heartbreak and desire.

Los Angeles. A city that does not slow down for grief. And a moment that arrived anyway, in the space between one life and the next.

"Most brands do not fail because the product is wrong. They fail because no one has ever told their story properly."
— Mukurima Muriuki

Our work

We work with founders who are serious about their brand. Every engagement begins with a real conversation.

Brand Audit

What your brand is saying — and what it should be saying

Most brands are not failing because the product is wrong. They are failing because the way the brand presents itself does not match what the business actually is. We go into your website, your messaging, your positioning, and your content with a sharp eye — and we come back with a specific, honest account of what is working, what is not, and what needs to change. Not generalities. Not templates. A real diagnosis built on what we find in your specific brand.

Brand Messaging

Copy and positioning that does the work it is supposed to do

A homepage that does not convert, a positioning statement that could belong to a hundred other brands, product descriptions that describe without selling — these are the silent reasons buyers leave without acting. We rewrite the language of your brand from the ground up. Homepage, tagline, brand voice, product copy — every word is written to move a specific buyer from interested to convinced. We do not produce generic copy. We produce language that sounds like you, at your most articulate.

Founder Story & Content

The story behind the brand — told with the depth it deserves

Every founder has a story that, if told properly, would make a buyer stop and feel something. Most founders have never had the conversation that draws that story out. We do that — through a recorded interview, deep listening, and editorial writing that captures not just what you built but why, and what it cost you to build it. From that single conversation we produce the written founder story, the long-form blog content optimised for search, the social content series, and the YouTube interview that builds trust at scale. One conversation. Months of output that keeps working.

Content Strategy

A content operation that builds the brand month after month

A brand that publishes nothing falls behind. A brand that publishes the wrong things falls behind faster. We build and run the content engine — social captions written in your voice, SEO-structured blog posts that attract the right buyers, email newsletters that your subscribers actually open, and YouTube scripts that translate your expertise into content people trust. For brands on retainer, we are the editorial and content team they do not have to hire full-time.

Crisis Communication

When the wrong story is spreading — and yours is not

A crisis is not always a scandal. It is any moment when what people believe about your brand is doing serious damage — a bad review that is going viral, a media story that misrepresents you, a product recall, a public misunderstanding, a sudden loss of customer trust. How a brand responds in the first 48 hours shapes how the story ends. We work with founders and business leaders to assess what is happening, define the right response, write the communications that need to go out — to customers, to press, to the public — and manage the narrative before it manages them. Measured. Clear. Honest. Built to protect what you have spent years building.

May The Day Break is built on real stories. If you have one worth telling, we want to hear from you.

Founders, creators, and businesses doing meaningful work the world has not yet paid enough attention to. People with a story worth telling.

What we publish

First-person narratives written with editorial depth. Not a blog post. Not a press release. A story that makes a reader stop and feel something.

About

Grown in Kenya.
Sharpened in America.
Built for both.

I grew up in Kenya and built my career across two continents — carrying the discipline of my Kenyan roots into the fast, competitive world of American business and media. That formation shapes everything I do. It is the lens through which I read every brand I work with and every story I tell.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree from California State University in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding. That combination is rarer than it sounds and more useful than most people expect. I understand the numbers behind a business and the human dynamics that determine whether it grows or stalls. I know how to find where the tension is, name it clearly, and resolve it — whether that tension lives in a brand's messaging, its public positioning, or a crisis it did not see coming.

I am a published author and have contributed to, appeared in, and corresponded for media organisations across Britain, Kenya, and the United States. I have written speeches and managed online communications for brands. I have led branding projects from initial audit to final execution — and I have built, from the ground up, a Facebook community of 117,000 followers drawn from across the world. That audience found me not through advertising, but through the consistency and quality of what I publish.

I do not take on clients to produce reports that gather dust. I work with people who are ready to act — and I stay until the brand sounds like what the business actually is.
